Photography

After a gap of several years, my love of photography was reawakened when I was asked by an artist friend to photograph her paintings for her new web site. From that small beginning I immersed myself in this brand new world.

Capturing a fleeting moment in time, or creating an image which gives a new perspective on the familiar catches my breath every time. Examples of my work are included here, and I intend this to be an ongoing archive as I explore this exciting and endlessly fascinating medium.

The technical bits...

Photographs are taken with Nikon D2Xs and D200 digital SLR cameras, using a variety of Nikon prime and zoom lenses from 12mm to 300mm, Gitzo supports and Lee filters. Lighting includes several Nikon SB800 and SB600 flash units, used wirelessly off-camera, and Interfit studio lighting. Current hardware is a Macintosh G5 Dual 2.3 GHz with two Apple Cinema displays (extended desktop), and a MacIntosh G4 PowerBook for on-site and studio processing. Images are captured in RAW format and processed in Apple Aperture and Adobe Photoshop.
